Again

Well.. Nothing to report. I did take old paint off A-M . I decided to repair a spot on the chin log. I used Epoxy, very carefully. Now my eyes are swollen and angry again. Time for another brake from boat repair... %^$#@

Got it wet

Spring---. I took the skiff ( Adella-Mae) out today. Launched it from Sausolito. Tide was a bit low and I had to carry it over some slime. I put the oars in the oak locks sat down and rowed. Like seeing an old friend it felt great.
We desided that she deserves some work. Clean it up and a coat of paint. I had not used certain muscles and I will probably understand better which muscles tommorow morning

Off again

Well I have had nothing much to blog about. Due to a bad reaction to the epoxy I look like I went 1 round with George Forman. I would let it heal then do another portion of the seams or gunwale. then rest it again.
The weather is on again off again.. Happy Birthday Ma.

Slow progress

SM is making progress . As you can see there is little room in the shop. The boat is on sawhorses which are resting on 2 dollies. This way I can "scoot it around to get to different tools. I filled in some gaps and sanded. and sanded. The budget for this venture is challenging. $0. Next is the skeg and molding.

Rae and I are going to be taking the skiff out as soon as possible. Rowing up the Russian river and out to Angel Island in SF Bay. That is 2 seperate trips for you non locals.

After 4 years it is time to name the Blue boat , we desided on The "Adella Mae " . Our mothers would hate it.

The weather is warming .

Breathing

To the right see a homemade forsed air respirator. A MacGyver sort. that I am thinking of duplicating.
After opening a container of Polyester resin in my small shop the need for such a device became very evident. A link for the thing is Forced-Air

More on "Sea Midge"

The reason I brought SM up is that I had the occation to bring her back down to the Bay area.
The boat is in my small shop and staying dry. I can now see what a rough job I made of it last winter.
There are large gaps at the chine and I do need to cover the ends. A keel and skeg need machining.
Most of the screws need recessing..

The Sea Midge

Last year I spent 4 months up in Sequim Washington.
I was up there to help with my mom. The 91 year old dear had a couple bad falls and complications from knee surgery.
It was one of the stormingist winters that they had had in 20 years.
While I shared the comfort of her house I desided to start a new boat. I searched on line and decided on  "The Sea Midge"

Using hand tools and bad judgement I look back at this as a learning experience
